Guided step by step, participants will create a small decorative mosaic using materials such as glass, ceramic, or marble.

The experience is also suitable for beginners and requires no previous artistic skills — just curiosity and a desire to create.

By taking part in our mosaic workshop in Florence, participants will gain:

  • a small handmade mosaic (for example, a coaster, a decorative tile, or a small panel)
  • an understanding of the basic techniques of mosaic-making
  • practical advice on materials and tools for continuing to work independently

The mosaic workshop is the perfect creative experience for discovering an ancient artistic technique and creating a unique handmade object!

Mosaic is a very ancient artistic technique that consists of creating images or decorative compositions by assembling small pieces, known as tesserae, made from materials such as glass, stone, or ceramic. It was already widely used in Ancient Rome and later in the Byzantine Empire, with magnificent examples found in the city of Ravenna.

One of the world’s most famous sites for mosaics is the Basilica of San Vitale in Ravenna, renowned for its remarkable 6th-century Byzantine mosaics.
